University of Houston (Main Campus) Spring 2007

The Spring 2007 Professional Lecture Series was hosted in collaboration with the University of Houston's College of Technology in the newly inaugurated AT&T Technology Lab.

 

 

 

 

Presentation (5/11/2007) "eBooks, Textbooks and Digital Storytelling " by Mr. Robert Nagle. Robert Nagle has a master's degree in creative writing and a background in college teaching. After serving in the Peace Corps (in Albania), he worked as a technical writer for Dell Computers and Texas Instruments. He keeps a personal blog about literature, technology and culture; also he writes fiction under various pseudonyms. He tells stories with the Houston Storyteller's Guild and is close to launching the Personville Story Network (a storytelling podcast featuring Texas storytellers). He is a contributing writer to www.teleread.org , a publication that covers trends in ebooks, digital libraries, reading technologies and publishing.

Presentation (4/27/07) "Education in Second Life" by Mr. Chris Duke, Director of Training & Professional Development for the San Jacinto College District (website). Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 5,712,471 people from around the globe and supports its own economy.

Dr. El Zarki specializes in various areas of Telecommunications and Networking, including Video over IP, Real Time Services over Wireless Networks, and Inter-Vehicular Communications Systems.
